Everything to know before your first sauna and cold plunge at Avanto: what to expect, what to bring, and how memberships, hours, and policies work.

The experience

What is Avanto?

“Avanto” means “a hole cut in the ice, for the purpose of going for a winter swim” in Finnish. We’re a Nordic-style spa offering cold plunge and sauna as a meditative, invigorating wellness ritual.

What services do you offer?

Contrast therapy: alternating extreme heat and cold. Two cold plunge pools at 50° and 40°, plus a Nordic dry sauna at 198°. It reduces inflammation and delivers a range of wellness benefits.

What should I expect?

Arrive 5 minutes early to enjoy your full hour. A typical rhythm: sauna 10–20 min, rinse, cold plunge 3–5 min, rest, and repeat. Complimentary towels, water, electrolytes, and tea are provided.

What is the dress code?

Clothing is mandatory at Avanto. Swimwear (or similar) appropriate for a public, communal space.

Is there an age restriction?

Children under 14 cannot use the facilities except in special circumstances. Teens 14–17 must be accompanied by an adult and have a parental-consent waiver.

How many people per session?

Standard sessions are capped at six for comfort (the sauna itself holds up to 12). Group rentals and corporate passes are available for larger gatherings.
